Lone Star College, Lamar University form partnership

HOUSTON (May 16, 2016) – Lone Star College and Lamar University announced a partnership to offer courses which can lead to a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts degree at LSC-University Center at The Woodlands.

 

“I believe it is critically important to form regional partnerships that can provide additional educational opportunities for our community,” said Dr. Stephen C. Head, LSC chancellor. “And, as a proud Lamar University alum, I personally know what a great institution it is.”

 

Students will be able to focus on earning engineering degrees which can lead to careers in aerospace, electronics, petroleum, industrial equipment, and heating and air conditioning systems.

 

“Lamar University and Lone Star College see many first generation college students,” said Dr. Kenneth Evans, Lamar University president. “These students take an educational journey and it is critical higher educational institutions are ready to help them succeed.”

 

Officials from both colleges, including Dr. Head, LSC chancellor and Dr. Evans, Lamar University president, were on hand at LSC-University Center at The Woodlands to sign the agreement and officially launch this partnership.

 

"We need this type of human capitol,” said Dr. Alton Smith, LSCS Board of Trustees member. “Providing additional opportunities through this partnership will help ensure our community continues to remain prosperous.”

 

Other LSCS Board of Trustees members in attendance included Ken Lloyd, Lamar University alum and Dr. David Holsey.

 

“My son went to LSC-University Center at The Woodlands, so I know firsthand that it works,” said Head. “This program will help more Lone Star College students who want to further their education in these career disciplines.”
