HOUSTON SYMPHONY MARCH 2011 CALENDAR


HOUSTON (February 7, 2011) – Unless otherwise noted, all concerts take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston’s Theater District. For tickets and information, please call (713) 224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org unless otherwise noted. Tickets may also be purchased at the Houston Symphony Patrons Service Center in Jones Hall (Monday – Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM). All programs and artists are subject to change.

Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody was made popular in the 1980 movie Somewhere in Time. Rachmaninoff himself played the first performance of the Rhapsody in Philadelphia, with former Houston Symphony Music Director Leopold Stokowski on the podium. You’ll be dazzled by piano virtuoso Gabriela Montero, known not only for her impeccable technique and musicality, but also for her incredible ability to improvise on any given theme.
