HOUSTON [May 11, 2017] - Stafford is home to the largest concentration of pipe, valve, and fitting manufacturers in the United States. Overall, Houston is one of the leading manufacturing regions in the U.S.   Houston not only leads in the energy sector, but also is a major player in medical manufacturing and biotechnology developments. So, it makes sense that the Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce (ICC) 2017 Manufacturing Forum will take place right in the heart of “manufacturing country”.

On Thursday, May 18, Houston Community College (HCC) Southwest College will host the ICC 2017 Manufacturing Forum at the Stafford Campus.  The event is from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the new 54,424 square foot Stafford Workforce Building, located at 13622 Stafford Road, Houston, TX 77477. The building is home to the HCC Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence (COE) and is filled to the brim with state-of-the-art equipment, including 3D Printers, robotic arms, CNC mills, lathes machines, welding machines and more.

ICC and HCC know how important it is to bring various companies and organizations together to interact, collaborate and discuss topics relevant to a particular industry. ”The event is important to help get the word out about what HCC has to offer to the manufacturing community,” says Frederick Heard, Dean of the Advanced Manufacturing COE.  “It can lead to industry interaction with students, potential employment opportunities, and can equip current employees who come back for additional certifications with new skills to advance in their chosen fields.”

Heard will speak about what HCC offers to companies and the surrounding community.  “At the HCC Stafford Workforce Building, students learn advanced and additive manufacturing, machining, hydraulics, mechatronics, industrial robotics and automation,” Heard explains.   “By partnering with various employers, we ensure our programs are relevant to both our students and our industry partners.”

HCC is sponsoring the event along with Reliant, Wolfram Manufacturing, Sherbiny, CIT, Charity Corps, Schneider Group and Cooper Valves. The forum cost is $100 for ICC members and $125 for non-members (lunch is included).  RSVP today at
